Abstract

The teaching techniques of writing Arabic essays among lecturers are always different and varied. Thus, a study was conducted to examine the teaching of lecturers at the Public Universities of Malaysia related to the process of writing Arabic essays to students in the field of Arabic. The study design used is a qualitative study involving a total of 12 study participants consisting of Arabic language lecturers from four universities, namely Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). A set of interview protocols was used as a research instrument to obtain data. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic methods manually. Interview transcripts were analyzed according to themes and categories to obtain research findings. The findings of the study as a whole found that the majority of lecturers in public universities emphasize various techniques in the process of writing Arabic essays, especially in the aspects of producing an essay framework, sentence construction modeling and techniques to make summaries and summaries. The data obtained support findings to build the Arabic essay writing skills module (M-KMKBA). While the aspect of cohesion and coherence and the aspect of writing in the essay are not given full attention, there are some obstacles such as insufficient teaching period and students' readiness to learn those aspects.

 

Abstrak

 

Teknik pengajaran menulis karangan bahasa Arab dalam kalangan pensyarah adalah sentiasa berbeza-beza dan pelbagai. Justeru, satu kajian telah dijalankan bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengajaran pensyarah di Universiti Awam Malaysia berkaitan proses penulisan karangan bahasa Arab kepada pelajar dalam bidang bahasa Arab. Data yang diperoleh merupakan dapatan sokongan yang digunakan untuk membina modul kemahiran menulis karangan bahasa Arab (M-KMKBA). Rekabentuk kajian yang digunakan ialah kajian kualitatif melibatkan seramai 12 orang peserta kajian yang terdiri daripada pensyarah bahasa Arab dari empat buah universiti iaitu Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) dan Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). Satu set protokol temubual digunakan sebagai instrumen kajian bagi mendapatkan data. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan kaedah tematik secara manual. Transkrip temubual dianalisis mengikut tema dan kategori bagi memperoleh dapatan kajian. Dapatan kajian secara keseluruhannya mendapati bahawa majoriti pensyarah di IPTA menekankan pelbagai teknik dalam proses menulis karangan bahasa Arab terutama pada aspek menghasilkan kerangka karangan, permodelan binaan ayat dan teknik membuat rumusan dan ringkasan. Manakala aspek kohesi dan koheran, begitu juga aspek pemerangganan dalam karangan tidak beri perhatian sepenuhnya kerana terdapat beberapa halangan seperti tempoh pengajaran yang tidak mencukupi dan kesediaan pelajar dalam mempelajari aspek tersebut.
